PROGRAM IMPACT
The Kohala Sailing Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization founded in 2024. Our free keiki sailing program is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of ocean stewards and community leaders. By providing children with hands-on sailing experiences, we offer a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of sailing—such as navigating, understanding wind patterns, and handling equipment—while gaining a deeper knowledge of the ocean and its ecosystems. Participants develop critical life skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and effective communication as they work together to sail successfully.
The program also fosters personal growth by building confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. Beyond the technical and interpersonal skills, our program connects children to Hawaii’s rich maritime heritage, instilling pride in the islands’ cultural legacy. Through this initiative, we strive to shape well-rounded, environmentally conscious individuals who are equipped with the skills and character to navigate challenges on and off the water. We are proud to create a space where the joy and lessons of sailing are accessible to all, contributing to a stronger and more connected community.
